XI. (Small scale) vehicle
Background
- 1/12th scale meant to demonstrate what Superway is
Objectives
- 1/12th scale vehicle focuses on two components
i. Bogie (Top portion of vehicle that propels the object)
ii. Cabin (illustrate potential sponsors what everything looks like)
- Objective: Reduce overall components as well as create accurate representation
Design requirements
- Redesign switching method to make it more reliable
- Replace piano wire holding switching mechanism
- Overall components of bogie has to be reduced
- Design 3D printed cabin that holds all of the electronics for the vehicle + act as visual model of large scale cabin
Design concepts
- Integrates summer 2015 team with new specifications
Analysis
- New bogie combines some parts to reduce complexity
- New cabin is 3D printed and looks similar to the large scale model
- Piano wires kept for conveniance
Money spent
- Total cost for project: $308.43
Results
- 5 vehicles successfully created for display
- Enough spare bogie components to allow next team to build 5 more
Conclusion
- New bogies/cabins created successfully
- 5 vehicles created
- Unsuccessful in replacing piano wires
Future work
- Find better switching method
